Édouard Manet

Édouard Manet was a French artist whose work celebrated urban life. He is best known for a painting technique known as “alla prima” in which he applied his final desired color to the canvas first, rather than building layers of pigment. His art spanned the transition from realism into impressionism.

We will be creating on our own urban artwork this month. Our efforts will benefit Roca Kidz, a program in downtown Manchester that works with underprivileged youth.

In order to complete this month’s project each student will need the following items:

  • Graphing pencil, 0.9mm – 1 per student
  • Large Elastic bands – 2 per student
  • Paperclips – 2 per student
  • Soft Black Eraser – can be shared
  • Ruler – 1 per student
  • Ultra-fine point black marker – 1 per student
  • Crayons, set of 8 (optional) – can be shared
  • Cardboard, 8″x10″ or a bit larger, but no smaller – 1 per student
  • Construction Paper, white, cut down to 8″x10″ (any white paper will do) – 1 sheet per student
  • 7″ scissors – can be shared

See you on Friday, February 15th at 6:30PM!
